About: Steven Lamar ACS

Steven Lamar prepared for his varied career as a business executive at San Diego State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. While enrolled at the institution, Mr. Lamar gained firsthand experience as a Mortgage Consultant with Wells Fargo and completed the company’s management training program. Shortly after obtaining his degree, Steven Lamar relocated to San Francisco, where he worked as a Relationship Manager with Citibank North America. Utilizing his financial experience, Mr. Lamar gained his Series 24, 63, and 7 securities licenses and procured a position as Vice President of Institutional Sales with Shoreline Pacific Institutional Finance in 1996. After gleaning varied experience with institutional investors, Steven Lamar cofounded BayStar Capital Management, LLC, in 1998. He served as the Managing Partner of the firm until 2005, investing more than $750 million in nearly 150 different companies.

In 2005, Steven Lamar became a Director on the Board of Allied Container Systems, Inc. (ACS), a company that designs and produces specialized container systems for use in military training and as habitable support facilities. Recognizing ACS’ potential, Mr. Lamar joined the firm in an executive role in 2006. During his time with the company, Mr. Lamar has enabled ACS to grow from 5 to 125 employees and increased revenues by 1,800 percent. Now working as a Director and Chief Operating Officer, Steven Lamar manages the urban combat training solutions created for the federal government and assists with financial administration. At the same time he started at ACS, Mr. Lamar established Jibe Audio, LLC, a consumer electronics company based in San Francisco. He quickly developed a reputation for the enterprise by negotiating a deal with Dr. Dre and Interscope records to manufacture the Beats brand of headphones, and he continues to function as the Chief Executive Officer. In addition, he sits on the Board of Directors for Jammit, Inc., a producer of music software.
